Buffing wheel? Masterio has them all!

Buffing wheels on an edgebander play a crucial role in preparation of a burled board. Masterio offers all kinds of buffing wheels. It is important, however, to use Masterio cleaning fluid with the buffing wheels. 

A buffing wheel’s task is to clean the format board during the last step of production. The board slides through the polishing unit where the wheels clean the edge and the corners of the board. The polishers are usually mounted above and below the moving board. They clean all flashes and glue residue, as well as dust and production dirt and polish the edges.

In order to work properly, the buffing wheel should be used with Masterio OK 30 cleaning fluid. The fluid is fed through a spraying system mounted before the polishing unit. The fluid increases the durability of the wheels. Without the fluid the wheel will quickly get stuck with production waste and would need replacing. Using the fluid results in clean, smooth and shiny furniture boards ready to be sold.

Each edgebander producer has their own polisher mounts. That is why some Felder of SCM edgebanders have a hex slot and Jaromy edgebanders – small, round, 2 cm slots. A standard buffing wheel slot for mounting on an edgebander’s spindle is a round, 5 cm slot.

Masterio has a solution for different buffing wheel slot diameters. We simply offer all buffing wheel types for all types of edgebenders. We offer 10, 20, 25, 50, 55 and 80 mm buffing wheels.

You can also buy any external diameter buffing wheels. Different edgebanders have different external diameters – from 120 mm through 150, 160 and 180 to even 260 mm. Masterio offers also rarely used horizontal wheels.

Polishers used in edgebeners also use different materials. Plisse cotton being the standard one. Wheels with one side stitch are soft and clean gently. Wheels with two side stitches are rigid and not only do they clean production leftovers, but also press the edge and concentrate the material. The use of more rigid or soft polishers is an individual choice of the edgebander’s user.

Apart from plisse cotton, we offer leaf wheels made of cotton and istle, felt or leather in different configurations. They are a lot more durable than the cotton wheels. Wheels with istle, felt or leather help remove burrs and roughness.
